James Heeley's new creation, Phoenicia, is an imaginary olfactive journey through Phoenicia. The scent is inspired by this ancient land (1000 B.C.) of the Southern Mediterranean coast that once stretched from Lebanon (ancient Babylon), through Israel, North Africa and Cyprus to Southern Spain.
The Phoenicians were highly skilled craftsmen and remarkably wealthy traders. They not only traded fine cloth (they invented Tyrian purple dye), glass, ceramics, bronze, silver and gold but also wine. They brought to Europe a number of exotic fruits such as dates, spices, and precious woods that make up the scent of this warm and rich Extrait de Parfum.
The note of dates (whose botanical name is Phoenix dactylifera) and dry raisins that lie at the heart of this fragrance are accompanied by exotic, rare woods including sandalwood and agarwood, reinforced by the notes of smokey birchwood and Javanese vetiver.
Phoenicia is a noble, luxurious fragrance that breathes the warmth and refined wealth of this ancient civilization. But in the characteristic manner of Heeley perfumes it bears an elegant, contemporary edge.
